For the Youngsters

Half Days Off

Half days out of school, join us for arts, crafts, snacks and fun! Scheduled during Dare County Schools Teacher workdays. FFES kids can walk over with instructor on good weather days!

Whole Days Off

Dare County Schools scheduled days off. Join us for Artsy -craftsy fun!(students bring bag lunch, snack provided)

Art Classes for budding artists

After School and before dinner time! Instruction in drawing, painting, printmaking and craft. Attention to individual talent areas. Encourage your young artists to develop their skills! Ages 6-10

 FFES students can walk over with instructor, KHES carpools can be arranged.

Art Classes for Home Schoolers

Instruction in drawing, painting, pottery& crafts for kids ages 6-11. NC state certified instructor.

Kid’s Pottery

Kids learn basic techniques in clay including hand building, potter’s wheel and glazing. Ages 10-14.

Mondays, 4-5:30 8 weeks $110 January 27-March 17

Kid’s Crafts

Kids will have fun putting all that energy to work to create fun and functional works in clay, textiles, sculpey, mixed media and much more! Ages 6-11

Art For Little Hands (preschool art)

Theme based class offering creative, age appropriate art activities to enhance your little one’s

fine motor skills. Stories, music, movement, art and FUN! Snack time provided too.

Techniques in Pottery

Instruction and fun in hand building, sculpting, wheel throwing and glazing.

Stained Glass

Create your glass masterpiece to hang in your home!

Learn caming or copper foil method as well as large amounts of other valuable glass knowledge!

Wednesdays 6-9 pm $175 includes all materials and tool use during class

Basic Oil Painting

Create paintings on canvas in class using proven methods! Demonstrations of techniques and procedures.

Emphasis in values, color, design, character and mood. $100 (+ supplies)

Techniques in Watercolor

Increase your confidence with watercolors! Instructor Chris Haltigan will guide you through proven skill builders

Students will complete two paintings.

Introduction to Silk Painting

Exploration of resist, watercolor and salt techniques on fabric. Emphasis on imagery, pattern,and color mixing as students design and create their own projects in fiber.

Holiday Hand Painted Silk Scarves Workshop

Great for Holiday Gifts! A variety of dying and painting techniques will be taught and practiced. Students will create sample swatches for practice and two beautiful silk scarves (one to keep and one to give away!)

$40 (includes all materials and supplies) Tuesday, December 10 6:00-8:30 pm

Creative Cloth Workshop 1

This workshop will explore several resist dye techniques, including shibori and clamping. Students will create sample squares demonstrating techniques learned and one finished project for home decor. Students will learn techniques and product information for use in their own home studio.

$80 (includes all materials and supplies) three weeks 6:00- 8:00 Tuesdays, April 1-15

Creative Cloth Workshop 2

This workshop will explore surface design on natural fibers. Methods include stamping and painting to create unique designs. Students will create sample squares and one finished project (several choices for project)

Beginning Photography 1

“Shake, Rattle, Develop and Print! “ Learn basic black and white photography techniques in a small group environment.

“The Photographic Fever” Learn more about B&W film and darkroom techniques! (beginning photo required or other outside darkroom experience) $100 includes supplies

Darkroom Studio Time

Independent study photography workshops by appointment $20 per hour. (equipment and chemicals provided; paper not included)

Stepping Stone Workshop

Create beautiful stained glass mosaic stepping stones for your garden.

$50 includes materials and supplies for one stone (other materials for future use available for purchase)
